Notes from a Rookie Firefighter...January 29, 2011

Today is clear off a hydrant day at the firehouse. I even noticed in one of the online newspapers an opportunity for residents to get a free coffee for doing it to help the fire department out. I remember last year doing the clean off with my captain and driving through the complex that I now live in. There were alot of residents parking in the fire lanes.

I guess people see snow and don't think fire. But they should be thinking storm and water damage.

PS not enough hours in the day but want to add some content to our website (yeah I'm now on the website committee) and have some downloadable forms like for driver training. Can you picture me behind our Ladder truck? LOL Maybe I'll just fill out one of those forms. After all if I could drive a stick shift on the Long Island Expressway in Queens I can do anything.

That my dear friend Chief France sounds like a challenge! LOL Yes I am quite full of surprises!!!! And I only dug out 6 hydrants and forgot one time to shut the front door of my car. HA then I had to dig myself out.
