NG (New Guy)

Hey "Nation"!

I am one of 15 paid firefighters in a small combo dept. (10 or 15 vollies).

I joined the "nation" to maybe find individuals in the same boat???

We have a BOARD that doesn't communicate with us (paid staff) and we have vollies who don't communicate with us???

We are under the impression that if we speak up....we'll get fired???
So we come to work each rotation and do our job, train, and get certified in anything we can get our hands on!

We also just started a Union (IAFF Local #4502)...we are trying to learn how to communicate THROUGH a Union spokesperson, since our voice can't be heard as a regular paid staff firefighter.

Anyone out there HEAR where I'm coming from???

I believe the "New Guy" reference was to the fact that he is new to this forum, not his job. It actually sounds (to me at least) that he has been around his department for quite some time.

Hmmm...seems some bad feelings exist in your "House"....Let me see now....a "FNG" getting paid for something I (for practical purposes) Volunteer to do beside you.....Hmmm I don't know....maybe they resent the fact that some are paid for the same "jobs"....? Possibility I guess....Stay safe and Keep the Faith.....Paul
