Since my last blog here. Kind of fitting. Yesterday I went to the station to get my gear including my mask to do a ride along with another station. My gear was there but not my mask, without the mask I can't ride. It seems without my knowledge that I was regulated to non-operational status. No note, no phone call, email, nothing.

If the volunteer fire department wants to play reindeer games, well they can play them all by themselves. As of yesterday, Friday August 28, 2009 taking the obvious hint that was given me, I have decided to put an end to my time as a volunteer fire fighter/EMT. It wasn't the way I wanted to go. I had hoped that at a certain time in my age I could have my head held high, and be proud of my time as a volunteer, and retire peacefully. That no longer seems an option.

I will be writing and posting time to time but at the moment it isn't an easy time for me.

It was no oversight. I had planned to transfer but before deciding where to go next I wanted to ride with some other stations/departments. Without the mask, I can't so why continue to fight when you have been basically been shown the door. I don't need a tiller truck to fall on me to know that my time as a volunteer is over.
