I flipped mine down so that the hinges were at a 90 degree angle from the shield and positioned them where I though they needed to be: about 3/4 inch in from the edge on my lid. I marked where the holes lined up and drilled two holes. Just make extra sure it's centered. Flip the shield up and down a couple of times as you gently tighten the screws to make sure it doesn't bind. Good luck!
