A new nozzle that uses 2 gallons a minute and 100psi to put out fires

When the clean air act banned CFC's the Navy set about designing a nozzle that can put out fires using very small quantities of water at low pressures

Here it is, let me know your thoughts

They have tried it out in a controlled room fire using wooden pallets and other inflamables, there are photos but not in video. I think they are planning another demonstration soon

You are still going to need GPM's for the btu's in the fire. It probably cost to much just to be a trash fire nozzle. When we already have 1" nozzles that can knock the fire down. Not trying to throw off on the nozzle just saying.

Then thank you for your selfless gesture to those of us in the fire service.

I thought the video was unconvincing as the "small quantities of water" extinguished only a small quantity of fire. Does the nozzle have applications for larger fires?

Peter,

Do you have a financial interest in this product?

I am wondering about the range of this system. Since it atomizes the stream, I would tend to think that distance is severely impacted by air resistance. It might be a great tool for brush fires and vehicles, but I do not believe I would want to go into a structure with only this.

Peter, this nozzle definately uses very little water, but does it provide enough protection to fight a full room and contents fire without being overheated. Did note the bail operation is backwards.
