Tomorrow, at noon, I have my first interview at a fire department. It's the original department I wanted to work at. It's for a volunteer position, to move up to paid part-time in a few months. The interview is a formal panel interview, with 4-6 on the panel. I'm so excited and nervous...I'm not sure what to expect.
This totally came out of nowhere-I put the application in back in June, before I graduated fire school. They called this past Sunday to schedule the interview. I literally fell onto the floor when I got the voicemail. Could it be?? Is this it?? I hope so....I just hope my excitement doesn't make me look like a dork when I go in there. I'm not sure when was the last time I had an interview, and I've never had a panel interview. Hopefully, I'll stay cool and get my points across effectively and they'll have no choice but to hire me!!!

What is the Departments mission statement. What do you have to offer the Department. Where do you want to be in 10 yrs. Why should they hire you. What have you done to prepare yourself as a Firefighter. What are you wearing to the interview. Make sure you shake every hand with enthusiasm. No ums or ahs answere questions and look the person who aske the question in the eye and as you answere the question look at other rators to show that your answers are equally important to them. Brush your teeth twice. Manicure your nails. Get a fresh haircut. Think of how proud your parents will be of you when you get hired. Shake every hand with enthusiasm when you leave and say THANKS for the oppurtunity. And lastly, YOU DESERVE THE RIGHT TO BE CALLED A FIREFIGHTER.
