Cancer Sucks A**

Sadly, I must yet again say goodbye to another of the good guys. Gene Williams, EMT-P, Director of Williston Rescue Squad, lost his fight with cancer. It's been a really lousy Spring.

Sad day in Aiken County

Today we lost one of the best human beings I have ever met to cancer. Top-notch Paramedic, firefighter, leader, mentor. Robert Moon will be greatly missed.

Stress Relief at Sebastian Inlet

Back at work after a much needed 4 days off, fishing from the south jetty of Sebastian Inlet and Haulover Canal between Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. Thanks go out to the Firefighters of Brevard County Fire and Rescue Stn 65 "the last one in the county" for the shirts and photo opportunity.

There's something to be said for "getting away from it all", even if only for a little while, but no matter where I go, I can't leave fire and rescue behind completely.

Never too young.........

Friend and local firefighter/emt has had a stroke. He's only in his late thirties, healthy and fit. There's no age limits for health problems. Regular wellness checks are money well spent.

Random Thoughts From a Linear Thinker

Now that I am working emergency response full-time, I have noticed something that I haven't seen in a long while. I've been working 9 - 5 (basically) since mustering out of the Marine Corps. A few years ago I began volunteering as a firefighter and EMT. Now full-time as an EMT, I have noticed that the "atmosphere" is basically the same as when I was on Active-Duty - we're dragging through stretches of complete boredom, punctuated by brief periods of excitement. (The original quote is for "sheer… Continue
