Veteran responders: Remember back in the day -- before the internet -- when contact with one another was through print magazines or via "pen pals?" Q: What Was Your Worst Call?
(Squad) My first call with the squad was an unconcious/unresponsive in the summer of 2010. The ambulance responded with 4 people, and myself and 2 other members responded in our support vehicle. When we arrived on scene, we came across approx. 12 people standing outside the house, 2 of them (which i knew) said "He's in the attic, please hurry!" We grabbed our gear and rushed up the steps into the attic. We found a 20ish year old male laying on the bed; head…

I am writing my research paper for english on should it be nessecary for a career firefighter to have basic EMT training. I was going to try to get some input from true career firefighters. I personally believe that there should be at least 3-4 on each shift who are trained in emt but not all should be required to. what do you think? anything posted could help.

When my husband was working on the squad, he would come home with a ton of stories about when he was in the midst of trouble when someone from a very bad part of Jersey City had called for help, complaining of chest pains. Doing what a good team is supposed to do, they responded as they should. Once they arrived everything seemed very quiet, almost eerily so. He and his partner got out of their rig and started up the 3 story walk up, when suddenly from around the bend entered a group of 5-6…

It is imperative that
all Pennsylvania volunteer firefighters, fire police officers, and emergency medical technicians call and email their state representative to encourage them to support and quickly pass four pieces of legislation that are in the process of being sent to the PA House of Representatives. These bills will give
state and local income tax credits to all active volunteers!
For more details about the legislation and how you need to…

We are going to be in the beautiful town of Helen Georgia. For those of you who are not familiar with Helen, it is an old style German town. It has lazy river flowing ice cold water though the center of town which will be awesome during those hot days of summer. You can splash around on innertubes for hours. The Wilderness Medicine EMT upgrade course is for medical professionals and will be starting on August 18-22, 2008. Course Cost will be $600 and upon successful completion you will receive…
