Saddened at the loss of a fallen brother. R.I.P. Joel Wiggins.

Today I found out that one of my friends and a fellow firefighter, a brother, died unexpectedly. He was a great firefighter, first-responder, and rescue squad member for our county. He always responded to a call, no matter how big or small. East Toombs 326 Joel Wiggins you will be dearly missed. As a member of South Thompson Fire Dept., his fellow firefighter and friend, I will miss working wrecks with him and having his assistance on fire scenes, fighting fire beside him as we have done… Continue

The Story of the Candy Cane

One Christmas in a small candy shop a candy maker decided he would share the story of Jesus with a special candy. This candy would symbolize the birth, life and death of Jesus Christ. To represent the Virgin birth, and the sinless nature of Jesus he used a solid white candy. This candy was a solid candy to represent the solid rock of God. The shape of this candy was easy to decide, he shaped this candy into the letter "J". This of course, represented Jesus. Jesus is often referred to as the… Continue

My brother-in-law Jason Adams (24 yrs old) has Hodgkins Disease and a mass growing behind his heart. The doctors are doing a biopsy this week and then a chemo treatment that will take three days. Then he will have to have a Stem Cell Transplant. Which cost around $60,000. Jason has no insurance. However, his cancer doctor has found a surgeon that will do the biopsy for free and the hospital will provide its services for free. However, the Stem Cell Transplant will not be free. Even after all of… Continue

My accident happened back in 1998. Soon after the accident...the company that I had worked for, closed its doors. I still have a lawsuit against the city I worked for because since day one...my medical bills haven't been paid! The guy who did this to me...took his life by overdosing on street drugs. Every day I am in great pain, but I still go to work. I am on heavy duty pain med's. There are some days, I wish that I can take a rifle and shoot my leg off or cut the damn thing off myself. I feel bad that I am putting my wife through this...she's been a real help. I worry that she might leave me, but she reassures me every time that she's not gonna leave...she's my best-friend, a great mom and wife.
