Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Family job. Brother is a firefighter/EMT in Baltimore County, grandpa was a Prince Georges county Lt. in company 26, back when it was all volunteer, my great-great uncle was one of the first chiefs at the station I'm currently with, also my great-great grandfather was a firefighter in Delaware. It's been in the family for years and I plan to keep it that way.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
Gives a sense of family and belonging. Just feels like one of those things I was born to do.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Budget cuts, lightweight construction, lack of staffing, lack of motivation in the community to become volunteers and volunteer retention
