About Me:
My name is Robert Briggs. I am 30 years old. I live in Luckey, Ohio. We are located 20 minutes south of Toledo, Ohio. I have been in the fire service for 10 years. I start my fire career at Troy Township Fire and EMS in Luckey, Ohio in 2007. I work for 2 other fire departments (Washington Township (Point Place, Ohio) and Springfield Township (Holland,Ohio). Both Are part-time fire/ems jobs. I have been around the fire service for 28 yrs. due to my step-father being a firefighter for over 35 years. I knew I truly wanted to be a firefighter at the age of 4 yrs. old. My dad instilled the "FIRE BUG" (as my mother calls it) at a very young age.

During my ten years in the service, I have seen the good and the bad but not everything. I continue to train and put fire/ems knowledge head. I take training very serious and like to train very often. My number 1 pet peeve in the fire service is the firefighter/EMT's who wear the departments job shirt but do not come on EMS/Fire calls, or come to drill to learn or do their continuing education like the should. Then those firefighter do not educate themselves on how the fire service is changing. Also they are out in the community representing your department because they wearing you shirt then they educate the community the wrong way.
Day Job:
Firefighter/EMT's
Relationship Status:
Married
Why I Joined Fire/EMS
I joined the fire service because I wanted to be like my step father! I loved everything the about the fire service from the brother/sisterhood to serving and protecting the community.
Why I Love Fire/EMS
I love the Fire Service because it is one big family. You take care of your brothers and sisters and they take care of you.
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Staffing problems at fire departments, uneducated firefighters who do not take training seriously, political problems that effect the fire departments and their communities,
