Why I Joined Fire/EMS

My grandfather was FDNY during the sixties and i myself find it hard to not be in some sort of organization to help people. Originally involved in the boy scouts of america, i resigned from my leadership position of Senior Patrol Leader due to a lack of co-operation and communication among-st the officers and scoutmasters. After going through my own ordeals i figured i couldnt just sit around when i could be doing something that make make the slightest change in someones life(for the better) and joined the local fire department which has about 180 members and 4 stations

Why I Love Fire/EMS

More than a Hobby, Its like actually having a family

Top Issues Facing Responders:

the obvious work hazards are there; Fire, Water, high stress. but I think the main issue lies more in with people not understanding just what we do, how we operate, and what it all take. For that reason. The average taxpayer would look at the financials for the dept and think its outrageous. but once you get a hold of things you start to see where the money goes and where its used.
