Your Firefighter Nation for Firefighting EMS and Rescue Box

"I have no ambition in this world but one, and that is to be a fireman. The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but we who know the work which the firefighter has to do believe that his is a noble calling.

There is an adage which says that, 'Nothing can be destroyed except by fire.' We strive to preserve from destruction the wealth of the world which is the product of the industry of man, necessary for the comfort of both the rich and the poor. We are defenders from fires of the art which has beautified the world, the product of the genius of man and the means of refinement of mankind. But, above all; our proudest endeavor is to save lives; the work of God Himself.

Under the impulse of such thoughts, the nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of daring, even at the supreme sacrifice. Such considerations may not strike the average mind, but they are sufficient to fill to the limit our ambition in life onto make us serve the general purpose of human society."

I know that this may be old news to those of you in NYC but I just learned of it...and frankly I'm disgusted. It is a sad comentary on the direction of the fire service in this country...increasingly nerds and bean counters are running the show instead of jakes. Its a damn shame if you ask me. If this is the most important thing the FDNY brass has to worry about then things must be going swimingly in the big apple. Excellent way to destroy the unique character and morale of a great department… Continue

Some nice work in Beantown!!!

So my good friend Brian (aka. Big Perm) got his first job on Monday. He got out of drill school back in August and was assigned to one of the busiest engine companies in the city (E-52) Unfortunatly he ran smack into a serious drought as far as fires are concerned. That came to an end when he rolled in fist due to a well involved triple deckah' (that's a 3 story house to all you non Bostonians) with children trapped. The lads were able to make two spectacular grabs. Very inpressive!!! There…

....Bless the guys in the hard-hats removing debris.

....Bless the everyday people who answered the call.

....Bless those who gave some and those who gave all.

....And Bless all the souls who left us this day. You may gone…
