Why I Joined Fire/EMS

I have volunteered for a lot of things in the community over the years, including the EMA. The group I volunteered for with the EMA (CERT) provided me with a chance to go through the smoke trailer in full turn out gear to get a better understanding of what firefighters faced. One time through and I was hooked! Shortly after , the State Fire Academy had a training just for women, "Can You Take the Heat?" where I got to do my first live burn and after that I knew it was what I wanted to do!
