We are only human being, we need to support each other as a firefighter, the chief is in the wrong place and at the wrong time, as we go along we learn from our mistakes......God Bless and staysafe to all members.
Indeed. Glad he is not injured. Life passed before his very eyes that day...
Comment by Matador83 on April 13, 2012 at 3:16pm Regardless of the rank here. The fire attack began in a defensive mode, There is no reason to attempt an offensive tactic. The minute a defensive approach was established you had essentially condemed the builidng. The chief is so lucky.
the small dept where i am at..every one is needed on the fire ground..even our chief gets dirty
Comment by Nick Hessong on April 12, 2012 at 12:43pm I know many volunteer companies where if it is a mutual aid call the chief will ride along and do the job of any other firefighter.
Perhaps he isn't in command. In some of these small volunteer departments, if a chief isn't in command and yet he is on the fireground, he might be needed elsewhere. "Every man's a rifleman", isn't that how it goes sometimes?
Now if my optimistic observation is wrong and he IS supposed be in command, I have no idea what is going on. In which case, I am speechless.
Comment by Jim Vieira on April 12, 2012 at 9:01am Maybe he was just short handed, and his firefighter wasn't relaying information to him properly, these things do happen. But either way, I agree why is he on the roof? I agree Don, glad he is OK
Comment by don long on April 12, 2012 at 8:58am Never mind the ladder! Why's the Chief on the roof???
