Hello brothers and sisters. Here are 2 Power Points that we use at our department for in service, ladder company operations, and trainees. I hope this will help you all out there in the field. Remember to train like your life depends on it because one day it will. Be safe and go home in one piece.Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs).pptxLadder Company Drills (cone).pptx
Jasson Drinkard thanx for passing on the ladder company drills for aeriels. I modified it for our department and the guys actually thought it was fun!
We placed a metal folding chair up with a cone on top of it ( for better viewing, on top of a 54 foot burn tower .
We spotted the turntable far enough away from the building so the operator could see the orange cone 54 ft in the air. We tied off the cone to the ladder with about 15 feet of rope. The idea was to set the cone tied to the ladder on top of and slide it down on top of the cone on the chair. Some guys could do it pretty quickly and some really struggled. We had a windy day and it made things even more interesting.
We coupled this and two other hands on scenarios with ground ladders and roof prop ventilation for our annual night training.
We have a training committee and one of our members gave me the scenarios and thought it would be a good training. It was a hit! I also like your idea of multiple targets at various levels. I will add this to another hands on training scenario in the spring. Thanks again!
