Hello Probies - I have been in the fire service for more years than most of you have been alive. I joined the Probie Corner to provide any assistance I can to help you succeed and progress in this wonderful profession you all have decided to join! I have been a probie a few times; when I first started as a volunteer, my first full time job, my second full time job and in the position I am currently in! You will be a Probie many time through out your career, treat them all the same, no matter how much experience you have.

Bob, Merry Christmas and Happy Up-Coming New Year!

I Agree with Charley. I am a little over a year in as a Fire Fighter and a little over two years as an EMT. Though I am only a Volunteer I do try to give as much of my personal time as I can to the Department. But in all of that I can say that I Completely agree with Charley. The Training never stops (which I'm sure you would agree with).

The Biggest thing you could possibly ever hope to achieve is Humility. Maintaining a sense of Humility allows to to always learn and grow. This is why I stay on The Probie Corner; to keep my sense of Humility, thus maintaining a ever open mind of learning.

I'm sure everyone here would agree that they would like to see you stay. But if you don't, please always remember that an open mind, listening ear, an open eye and emulation of what you've heard, seen and experienced will not just make you a great firefighter, but a great human being. God Bless and Good Luck Brother.

Michael

Bob, first, Merry Christmas. Second you will always be a probie to everyone that has time on you. I have 25 years on but still try to learn something new everyday and that's why I belong to this group.

Took the final December 16, waiting for my score. Should get it in less than 3 weeks! Hope I got at least an 80.

Hi my name's Bert and I have been at a small department in the city of Kodiak AK. I had no volunteer time and did not attend an academy but am working at my FF1 cert and went through my in house recruit training with flying colors. Any advice would help. Thanks
