I am a past company officer, back at the rank of Firefighter but still serving as both a Deputy Training Officer & Safety Officer. Saw some of the discussions here and thought they looked like a good way to exchange ideas. Let me know if it is OK to be in this group as a past officer or not.

Okay the photos above,
1) Too many whackers on the roof two with no packs
2) Overloaded roof, and why is the white hat up there?
3) There is nothing wrong with the 3rd photo, thats what the yuppie a@#hole gets.

here's on for ya....At KCFD 44 we use 3 1/2 reduced to a 2 1/2 on the side towards the fire, and then we use a gate on the side away from the fire. We don't use the steamer unless we have a mutual aid company taking a hydrant. Kinda like back in the day of the old village hydrants.

the hose thru the car is a classic and cant tell you how many times i've done that. and to add insult to injury a 100 ticket to boot lol

We also set up the hydrant with a valve on both the Steamer and a 2.5. Just our standard procedure. We have some mutual aid that can't handle anything but 2.5.

Using the steamer and 1-2.5 on a hydrant is our standard hook up. 2.5 has a gate valve put on by the first crew hooking up. That way you can get more water off that hydrant if avaliable.
