 In my 35 active years as a voli. I've seen just about all, in my dept. we've had and heard all kinds of excuses, our policy is that if you miss 6 trainings and business mtgs. in a row you are history. I do believe in benefit of a doubt but, there are limits. So where is the happy medium?

You don't train you don't ride!!! how can you work together or learn new skills if you do not train?

Our deparrtment is very strick on training and if you can't make the class due to work or family you will have the chance to make it up, but some one is not training and it becomes a habit then that person will lose thier gear and they are grounded until they start training. If they arn't on the same page as the crew then they will be lost.

 

Along with our Department By-Laws state that if you are on station and a function is going on you are to take part. This has always helped with the know-it-all's and the once a month FF cause if it's covered in the By-Laws then they haveno fight.
