7 more days left for registering a cook team for the 2nd Annual TX Fallen Hereos Memorial Ride & Cook-Off on June 25. Registrations are due June 17th. Also, we are still accepting underwriters and sponsors if you would like to get your name printed on the signs and t-shirts. Those are June 17th as well. Visit www.texasfallenheroesride.com for more details!

Hello All,
The Windcrest Volunteer Fire Dept will be having its 41st Annual Firemen's Picnic Tomorrow May 21st from 11am to 10pm. BBQ plates are $8. Stop by with your family, friends, or Fire Dept and enjoy the fun. There will be several fire dept demos going on. Live burn, Vehicle extrications, and San Antonio Airlife is to land on sight to do a Helicopter tour. Along with much more. I hope to see you there, and stay safe out there.

Hi Folks,
My name is Al Martinez. I am a full-time/Union FF/paramedic for the Park Forest (IL) Fire Department. I live in Steger (IL) where I am the part-time fire chief. I've been in the fire service since January 1, 1976. I hope to retire sometime soon. I have family in Temple (TX) and would like to move somewhere between Waco and the DFW metroplex. No one knows cities, towns, neighborhoods better than firefighters. The community I live in has a population of about 10,000. I don't want to go over 30,000. Some politician in town physically had a 4 apartment house moved to the lot next to us. We prefer not to have any immediate neighbors. We would like to have a house on a couple of acres. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Al

Dear Texas FF's . Although I no longer have the privledge of residing in the greatest state EVER, I was born and raised there. Born in Tyler, grew up in Waco and graduated from Grapevine High school. Now stuck in Va. but as you all know, Texas was founded and fought for by people from Va. and one of the first members of the Frontier Baltaion was McDonald, from Va. My heart never left, just my body.
I look forward to talking to all of my long lost Texas family.

Good for you Carlos! Keep in mind that most guys don't get in on the first try, but don't let that get you down! Keep trying and you will make it! Stay strong and good luck!

Come December I can finally apply to try out for the fire department! For the longest now not a day passes that I don't think about one day being a firefighter! I've been training and preparing myself year long & soon I'll hopefully pass, if not exceed, the exams set before me! Wish me luck!

Is the a site where your department can make a free website!?
Comment by Matt Nesius on March 12, 2010 at 8:46am
Hello all, I want to invite you all to brand new site called www.BrotherhoodFirst.com . Its completely free. Its a site where FFs can buy, sell and trade with other FFs. Im trying to encourage as many of us as possible to check it out and use it and spread the word about it to other FFs. Thanks. Stay safe.
