Comment by Russ on June 20, 2012 at 8:11pm hello to the group from an ex NY vollie...pleas tell me how the NYS laws for vollies have effected you in light of the fact that technology (LED's) are the in thing now.
i'm a vollie in florida and collect lights so i switch around in my collection down here (and get to use my red doams) i've used a federal flashball, federal fireball, federal fireball 2, whelen responder and some others...the guys kid me from time to time about it but my federal model 4 (ocelelating) everyone likes that one

Comment by Ron Briggs on February 15, 2012 at 12:22am Here is my personal vehicle while on the scene of a structure fire in Jan. 2012. I have a Chevy suburban AWD (All Wheel Drive). Since I am just the dept photographer I am not allowed to run reds (Chief says no) but since I am a storm spotter I am equipped with ambers. I have an Amber Whelen L21LAV beacon (vac-mag mount) for on top, 2 Whelen SpecTir 8 in Amber in the front window, and a Whelen Dual Avenger in Amber in the back window.
The Fire Chief's new car is behind my vehicle (he just got it stipped late last month) and the Fire Inspector SUV is in front of my vehicle. Since the chief and inspector weren't there yet when I got there, I put one of my cones out so my vehicle wouldn't get hit. Minutes later the pd shut the road down so LDH could be layed to the hydrant across the road on the corner.
Comment by Ron Briggs on February 15, 2012 at 12:06am Nice truck Firefighter Chris. I like how you have it lit like that.
