Looking for Ohio instructors who have made the switch to essentials V and are teaching the ffI transition class, I am having a hard time especially since the objectives and check off sheets are for the entire FFI course and we are still following the old recommended hours guide, plus evd

Quite a few of the other instructors in our region have confronted him but he keeps doing it because people keep attending his class. its usually members of his own department there and they don't seem to understand the dangers he is exposing them to. thats why i started this thread to begin with to maybe find a way to clue them in without causing too much of an uproar.

You are correct.....more then likely it will happen. all it takes is that 1 our of a hundred....Everyone refusing is a good start. Has anyone that you know of brought it with him. Sounds like this guy needs some help to find the way.

I am not saying he isn't certified, he is sending untrained firefighters into fully involved structures without preparing them for what to expect. And I agree we are all still learning even the instructors but I am afraid he is gonna kill someone one of these days. All the firefighters in my dept have already said they refuse to attend any training this guy is holding.

David, are you saying the instructor is not certified?
Any way, Certs do not guarantee that folks will do the correct thing. The person you are speaking of would more then likely do the same things with or with out a cert. The day that you received your FF1 did you have this massive download of information and nolonger did unsafe things? I would guess that you like the rest of us are always learning. Cert or no Cert.

To give an example this person has hosted a RIT live burn and a class burn for Firefighters with certs below the required FF1. at the class burn one person had to be transported for Smoke Inhalation and another was treated on scene for second degree burns to the neck. Did I mention there was a 250 gal propane tank 15 feet from the burn structure with 35% still in it?

If you know of a department or instructor that is having live burns and is not following 1403, stay as far away as possible and do not let your own people be involved either. This is an accident waiting to happen.

Whats the best and most professional manner to use when you know of an instructor who is not following NFPA 1403, without causing a rift between departments?

Here is a good link for all instructors to have. www.mediconverter.org, this allows you to rip videos from Youtube without downloading and conveting them, it does it for you. If you use Firefox, you can get the plug in as well.
