Hi all!! New to the room! BIG Q lover and just put into service a restored 1964 Federal Q2A onto our Engine 2. I acquired the siren off an old retired truck in Seattle, Wa at a race track. It WAS a internal pumper mount siren at the time. The whole thing was painted grey. After taking it, I disassembled it,cleaned, stripped the paint off and refurbished or replaced parts. The front grill it turns out was brass under the pain. Rare. This is now been buffed and has a trumpet" shine to it now. I transformed it from a internal mount to a pedestal mount by buying a pedestal and rear cone for it. Also had to replace the brake system as the other one was rotted and non functional. The first run for its new life back into service was Dec 20/2012. SOUNDS FANTASTIC. See profile pic for a a front view of it with me proudly sitting beside it after its first run. More pix to come.
