As we look around the world at firefighters both women and men,

I see a proffession none like any other.

We could be Wildland Firefighter where Nature rules

WE could be a Structual Firefighter where we are stuck in its confineds

Yet we are all the same since one name needs to be said Firefighters

Yes you could say that about the police.

However do the police bring police from other countries?

To help during riots or other disasters.

Yet we have firefighters come out of the woodwork when we need them during any fire

since we are that special breed of people

I see this daily as a wildland firefighter from division to even ICs.,even measily firefighters

We all fight that beast that threaten us so

We are called heros and yet just the sounds of those words,

We shake our head and just state we are doing our job.

We do it for the Glory of our God

Cause we know in our hearts that one day it will happen when

God will "PAY IT FORWARD" and be our hero to our rescue.

i got asked to compose a poem on the spot one night about a day at the firehouse. this is what i came up with

THE ADRENALINE PUMPS THROUGH MY VEINS.
COURAGE BUILDING IN MY MIND AND
MY HEAD BEING FILLED WITH TONES AND VOICES.
THWN THE RUSH OF ORGANIZED CHAOS,
ALL THE FAMILLIAR FACES OF MY BROTHERS.
RUNNING, JUMPING, HUSTLE AND COMPOSERE.

SPEEDING THROUGH THE STREETS,
THE THOUGHT OF PRAYER AND SEFETY
FOR THE SITUATION AT HAND.
ANTICIPATION AND DISTANT FEAR
MIXED WITH PRIDE AND DEDICATION.

WE ARE READY, WE ARE STRONG, WE ARTE FAMILY!

THE CLANKING AND CLANGING OF TOOLS, THE ROAR OF THE FLAMES.
LIGHTS AND SIRENS AND SHINING RED APPARATUS
AMONG A CROWD OF TAN, BLACK AND YELLOW.
GRAB A TOOL, FIND A TEAM, DO A JOB AND DO IT WELL!

ENDURANCE IS A VERTUE, AS IS DETERMINATION.

THE DAY IS OVER AND THE JOB IS DONE,
BUT DUTY AND PRIDE FOREVER STAND STRONG.
CLEAN UP AND PUT AWAY, LAY TO REST THE LONG DAY.
SWEET FAMILLIAR SMELLS OF SMOKE AND SWEAT
AND THE THOUGHT OF THE OBSTICALS YOU JUST MET.

RELAX AND REMANICE WITH ALL YOUR BROTHERS OVER A CUP OF COFFEE.
AND PRAY TOGETHER FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR NEXT ALARM.

A MEDIC'S NIGHTMARE

Iam the one who gets called out in the middle of the night.

Get in my ambulance and turn on my lights.

I get to the scene and you wouldn't believe what I have just seen.

The two kids I saw earlier talking about a party, are the same two I see myself putting into a bag.

I am the one who suffers and feels the pain,to see the loved ones who are left behind.

For what, I ask, all of this for a drink and a short ride.

Everyday I walk around , I look to see which one of the kids will I dream about next.

I can't sleep, they are in my dreams.

They Fight the Devil
It rises around them consuming all it touchs.

It rages forth with colors of red, orange and white.

Its breath like the fires of hell itself.

Its shadows as black as the darkest night.

They stand to confront it,ever wary of its power.

But stand they will to save the innocent.

There hearts race as they battle this evil foe.

For lives will not be lost this day.

For proud fireman stand the watch.

this poem was written by my 12 year old daughter please leave feed back
half-a-firefighter

I sit through the practice
and try to learn everything
so i can please my firemon daddy
and i know what to do when the bell rings.

When the tones drop
my daddy & i both run to the door
he calls back" soon munckin!"
"the time will be yours."

I often stay up late
to get a detailed report
I always fall asleep
so my mission is abort.

I feel like I'm a firefighter
I'm almost truly there.
as my time ticks closer,
I will be able to share.

The thrills of a firefighter
my daddy expierence everyday,
I'm so excited for that day
when i get to say:

I'm no longer half
I'm a real firefighter
