Hello, I am new to this group. I am a Master Instructor with the CA. State Fire Marshal and a Captain with the Upland Fire Department. I am also a member of the San Bernardino County Training Officers Association and manage the Training Resource And Information Network (T.R.A.I.N.) in which TO's store training material for sharing on an external drive. I look forward to assisting this group in the future.

oh also 29 Palms Marine Corps base has a paid department, I don't know if they are "federal fire" or not. Hope it helps

Donald, it depends on what you are looking for. There is 29 Palms fire, which I think is a all volunteer dept., There are 1 or 2 BLM departments in the area, and a little bit down Hwy 29 there is Morongo Valley Fire Department. I think in MVFD the firefighters are NOT paid but the engineers and captains are paid. Yucca Valley has both San Bernardino County Fire and a CDF station. Further down the road and west on I-10 there is the Morongo Indian Casino Fire Department.

Firefighters across Shasta County, 47,000 acres of which were still burning Sunday night, appeared to have a productive day battling the flames. In all, 10 percent of the blazes were contained, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said Sunday evening. Over the weekend, President Bush issued an emergency declaration for California and ordered federal agencies to assist in firefighting efforts in Butte, Mendocino, Monterey, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta and Trinity counties.
