I was not on the fire but listened.  Four engines, 1 ladder, 1 medic unit, and 2 batt chiefs were dispatched to a house fire with possible rescue.(apparatus are 3 person companies)  Ladder 3 arrived on scene first and had credible information that a victim was inside and good description of where in the structure.  An off duty police chief had already rescued 1 person.  Ladder 3 gave a concise detailed report, went into rescue mode, passed command, and entered the structure to perform a primary search.  At about that time a bc arrived and assumed command, they requested an additional Ladder, Engine, and Medic unit.  Also an engine arrived and extended a 1 3/4 inch preconnect and performed an interior attack on the fire.  Ladder 3 quickly found the remaining patient passed them off to an awaiting medic unit in the front yard and returned to the structure to finish the primary search.  After ladder 3 completed the primary search they went to the roof and cut a hole to perform vertical ventilation.  They had split crews and created another 2 person crew with another unit and was done at the same time as the search was done.  Other units arrived to fulfil all the other remaining duties ie. RIC, water supply, etc.  The victim was removed very quickly and the fire was quickly knocked down as well.  Nobody was too excited over the radio and it sounded very professional.
