Ok after reading some of the threads on the site I have this question to ask, does your department have a special team that is trained in RIT separate from your Engine and Tower crews ? Or is it like my department you show up and you could be designated "RIT" or "Attack" or "Vent". We dont have a special team, we are all trained to do everything.

All fire companies in the city of Boston have gone thru RIT training and all companies can be used in this role.
Our entire fire department (paid and call members) are certified on RIT. We do have a designed piece of apparatus, Rescue 1 that is pre-assigned as the RIT company unless otherwise changed by command.
Anyone can be RIT and all members are trained in it. We utilze the third due pump as the RIT team. As an incident progresses, the attack team could come out and assume RIT duties after changing bottles and some rehab. So basically anyone could be RIT at any given time.
Pretty much the same at our end....everyone gets all the training that they can handle....LOl...Most of the RIT duties are done by the more experienced Firefighters with RIT training....
Around here everyone is trained in RIT (or RIC thanks to NIMS). The Incident Commander then assigns a crew as the RIC. It might be one of his crews or a auto/mutual aid crew.
