The other day I was talking to my wife on the phone and she told me she was waching The Unit and they had a morter attice on it, and she couldnt under stand why I was mad about it. Well it comes down to this, the less she knows about what happens here the better off she will be. Just like in the fire service there are just some things you dont tell your wife or husband. It isnt so much that you are hiding something from them, it come down to there are just some things we cant tell them. I mean she knows that there is a chances that I may not come home but that is nothing new to use, wether it is military or firefighting. I would think that how it was but I could be wrong. Let me know what you think. Untill next time God Bless.

I don't think you should get mad about what a television show portrays. After all, if your wife doesn't want to see/think about what is going on with your job, then she shouldn't watch. The age of censorship in this country is dead...people have a really good idea what is going on. Besides, as others have said, it's pretty obvious it's going to be dangerous in a war zone.

Are you currently stationed overseas somewhere?

I do agree with not telling her everything that goes on ie, close calls, etc. It's one thing to know a loved one is in a generally dangerous situation, it's another to be posted about every close call that occurs. That could build up the stress levels pretty quick. However, everyone's different. Some people might want to know, it all depends on the person.

As far as the original question, though....I believe T.V. is free speech and we are all free to change the channel.
Well This gives me a different veiw on things. Somedays it is hard not letting the wife know what some things are. I geuss it is hard when I am in a place where it happens and as SGT. I have to keep my men calme and git them where they need to be, and being in some close calls both in combat and in the fire service, for me it can still be hard to let her learn abot what it is.
I am currently stationed in Baghdad Internationl Air Port (BIAP) Iraq, wich has severle camps on it.
Sounds like your a controll freak! Your a firefighter bro not a spy!
