Well it is T- 6 days until I get my knee replaced with the latest and greatest. I am nervous about it for sure. Yesterday was the pits, my head was for the first time in 27 yrs not in the game at all. Glad it was a quiet shift. The game was at the knee and thinking about how things were going to turn out in the next 6 months.

How many of you FFs out there have had this or other joints replaced and are still on the job. How are you doing, how did it turn out?

Well, it's mid-August and it's about time to update.

May 9th, 2022 I had right leg hip replacement. Could not be happier since surgery.

Get a surgeon that does a lot of hip replacements, you don't want one that does 5 per year. You want one that does 15-20 per week, you want the doctor on the cutting edge of technology and abilities.

If your retired and concerned about Medicare and your supplemental insurance, my surgery cost & 94K and I paid under $500.00 out of pocket. Consult with your insurance to be sure!!

Surgery went so easy and relatively pain free, I was actually quite surprised by that, I had expected a good deal more pain than I had. I think I was comparing the hip with the knee replacement from 2007. This was by far much kinder!

Things I learned from this replacement, do what the doctor says don't be foolish, that your time getting better. There should be no rush on your part, yah I know you want to go back to work but, going back when your body is not ready is nuts.  For the hip I was doing rehab 2 twice per week, I'm retired these days and I could do that, for those working the job you should probably do 3 times per week.

Pay attention to what your body is say to you, don't overdo it.
