Saw this in local paper.  Man has battery in the trunk that he is bringing to the auto parts store. When he tries to pick it up it explodes.  There is no clear reason why the battery exploded.  The weather was relativly cold - maybe in the 20's and the battery had traveled in the trunk from Wisconsin. The person thought that perhaps the explosion had to do with hydrogen build up and static electricity.  Anybody hear of this type of incident.
